Henley Unit Release Paths
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice identifies Dempsie Henley Unit as a female prison and Intermediate Sanction Facility with substance-abuse, SAFPF, and IPTC functions. An intermediate sanction is a structured response within an existing supervision case. SAFPF is a secure substance-abuse treatment placement. IPTC is an intensive treatment program tied to a transition toward supervision. Those functions make the word “release” unusually easy to overstate.
A woman leaving Henley may return to parole or another form of supervision after completing a required program. She may transfer to a different unit, remain held under another authority, or discharge if the state record shows the sentence ended. The program type does not decide the result. Read the individual TDCJ history and parole record.

Verify Henley Unit Departure
Begin at the TDCJ current inmate search. Its scope is limited to people currently incarcerated by TDCJ. Search with last name and first initial or a TDCJ number or SID. Optional filters can help, but identity should be matched with more than a name. Compare age, number, conviction county, offense, and reported unit.
If the record still lists Henley, it can include a Projected Release Date. That date is not proof of program completion or departure. If the person is absent, TDCJ's current-only scope means the online result cannot say why. The person may have been released, discharged, transferred outside the displayed search state, or mismatched by the search.
- Save the exact status and unit from the current TDCJ record.
- Ask the BPP status line whether a parole or mandatory-supervision review has a decision.
- Use Parole Division release processing after a favorable action.
- Request TDCJ history for the actual exit date, type, and next destination.

Henley Release Processing
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes parole and mandatory-supervision decisions. Its status line at 844-512-0461 can report review status, a last decision and date, and a next review for a currently incarcerated person. A favorable FI action can include a program, transfer, or future-month condition. RMS approves release to mandatory supervision. Neither code is the time of physical departure.
After a favorable vote, Parole Division release processing at 512-406-5202 is the correct next channel. If the person returns to supervision in Liberty County, the Dayton District Parole Office can verify the active assignment. The Probation & Parole page separates state parole from county probation, which is supervised by Liberty County CSCD under a court order.

Henley Release Date Meaning
TDCJ's Projected Release Date applies to a person currently in state custody. Texas Government Code Section 498.003 says good conduct time affects eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision and does not otherwise shorten the sentence. Credits may be forfeited. Sections 508.145 and 508.149 contain offense, date, and eligibility rules, so no single percentage safely predicts every Henley outcome.
A sanction or treatment timeline is not the same as a sentence timeline. Program progress, Board conditions, a detainer, a court order, credit loss, consecutive sentences, or release-plan processing can change what happens next. Use Projected Release to read the state field cautiously. For a completed event, rely on the recorded departure date and status.
Henley's intermediate-sanction role makes the prior supervision record especially important. A treatment or sanction placement may occur within an already active case. Leaving that placement can mean a return to the same supervision structure, not a new parole grant and not an unconditional end of sentence. The individual TDCJ and Parole Division records should identify the controlling event.
Ask TDCJ for the Henley admission and departure entries, the recorded destination, and any release or discharge status. When supervision resumes, the assigned district parole office can confirm the current field assignment. The office does not replace the state incarceration history and cannot convert a program completion date into a prison departure time.
If dates differ, preserve their labels. A treatment milestone, favorable Board action, release-plan approval, transport, and supervision reporting date may occur on separate days. None should be silently substituted for another. A narrow conclusion such as “TDCJ records a return to supervision after the Henley placement” is stronger than calling every Henley exit a full discharge.
Henley Notices Through IVSS
TDCJ prison notifications use the Integrated Victim Services System. IVSS notices may address parole eligibility, Board decisions, discharge dates, release, and bench-warrant movements. The service can be reached at 800-848-4284 or victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov. A notice is an event signal. Formal confirmation still comes from TDCJ and parole records.
Texas VINELink, which the Liberty County Sheriff links, serves the county custody and criminal-case layer. It is not the primary notification route for a Henley prison event. Likewise, the Liberty County jail roster cannot verify a woman leaving Henley because the Sheriff is not the custodian of this state placement.
Read the IVSS event type literally. A Board decision, discharge-date notice, bench-warrant movement, and prison release are separate notices with different meanings. In a Henley case, a treatment or sanction return may also reconnect the person with an existing supervision assignment. Confirm that assignment through Parole Division records and the proper district office.
Henley Release and Detainers
Completion of a Henley program does not guarantee direct return to the community. A new warrant, detainer, transfer order, or other legal hold can alter the destination. An ICE detainer requests notice and custody for up to 48 extra hours beyond the otherwise applicable release time so ICE may assume custody.
If the record indicates immigration custody, the ICE locator covers current detainees and recent ICE releases within its stated period. No official source reviewed identifies any Liberty County facility as a current ICE detention facility. Ask TDCJ for the receiving custodian. Do not infer transfer solely from a missing search result.
Liberty Facilities Need Labels
Liberty County has one Sheriff-run county jail and four state facilities. The county strategic plan says the five-facility correctional footprint exceeds 4,500 confined people. Henley's treatment and sanction role differs from Bell's pre-release focus, Hightower's male prison functions, and Plane's female prison and reentry programs.
The Sheriff resumed operation of the county jail in 2020, but that change did not affect TDCJ's operation of Henley. Older contractor accounts of the jail should not be applied to this unit. Start the broader Liberty County released inmate search by naming the custodian. That one choice prevents a county roster from being mistaken for a state release history.
