Hightower Unit Release Outcomes
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutions Division operates Hightower. A prison departure can end in several ways. Parole places an eligible person under conditional supervision. Mandatory supervision is another supervised release path governed by statutory eligibility and Board review. Discharge records the sentence endpoint. Transfer continues confinement at another unit or with another authority.
These words are not interchangeable. A Board decision can precede release-plan work. A projected date may change. A transport event may move the prisoner without ending custody. The final record should state the event and destination rather than merely say the person is “free.”

Confirm Hightower Unit Release
The TDCJ offender search includes only current TDCJ prisoners. Use last name and first initial, a seven-digit TDCJ number, or SID. Gender and race are optional filters. Match the person by multiple details, including name, number, age, conviction county, offense, and reported location.
A current Hightower result may show a Projected Release Date. It remains an estimate shaped by sentence law, credits, eligibility, Board action, detainers, and release-plan processing. A no-result does not create a released status because TDCJ does not offer a normal public historical profile for former prisoners.

Hightower is four miles north of Dayton and shares the broader acreage with Henley and Plane. Always include the full unit name and the person's TDCJ number when known. That detail helps keep records from neighboring units separate.

TDCJ's inmate information lines are 936-295-6371 and 800-535-0283, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For a prior event, ask TDCJ Open Records for existing incarceration history, release or discharge date, event type, releasing unit, and transfer destination. The designated routes include PIA@tdcj.texas.gov and P.O. Box 4017, Huntsville, TX 77342. TDCJ says it does not provide public inmate photographs through its information email channel.
Hightower Prison Identity
The official Hightower Unit page identifies a 1,384-capacity male prison. Its custody levels and specialized programs describe facility operations. They do not calculate a prisoner's date or show whether a named person left.

The captured unit page confirms the facility and operator. A person-specific TDCJ record is still required for release or transfer.

Hightower Projected Release Dates
Texas Government Code Section 498.003 says good conduct time affects eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision and does not otherwise reduce the sentence. Credits can be forfeited and may be restored under applicable rules. Section 508.145 contains multiple parole formulas based on offense, date, and sentence. Section 508.149 addresses mandatory-supervision exclusions and discretionary review.
No universal Texas “85 percent rule” fits all Hightower prisoners. Serious-offense provisions, consecutive terms, detainers, Board decisions, and credit changes matter. For many qualifying post-1996 cases, mandatory supervision is discretionary. If a person is ineligible or the Board denies it, TDCJ may show the projected date as discharge. The Projected Release page gives the full distinction between an estimate and the completed event.
Hightower's custody levels and specialized programs do not add a person-specific calculation. They describe the prison's operations. The current online record is still the source for the displayed projection, while BPP supplies the parole or mandatory-supervision decision. A program listing cannot show that the Board approved release or that processing finished.
For a past Hightower event, request TDCJ incarceration history with the release or discharge date, type, releasing unit, and transfer destination. Include the seven-digit TDCJ number or SID when known. If neither is available, TDCJ asks for a full name with exact date of birth or approximate age and conviction county. These fields reduce the risk of matching a different prisoner.
After favorable Board action, Parole Division can answer release-processing questions. The Dayton DPO can later verify an active Liberty County supervision assignment. Neither a district assignment nor a DPS registry entry establishes the Hightower departure timestamp. The registry applies only when a legal registration duty exists, and its status should remain separate from the state prison release record.
Hightower Parole Verification
BPP vote codes need careful reading. FI is favorable action and may include a required program, transfer, or future date. NR sets another review without release. SA means serve all. RMS approves release to mandatory supervision, while DMS denies it. Call the BPP status line for the exact current code and decision date.
After physical release to parole or mandatory supervision in Liberty County, the Dayton District Parole Office can verify an active assignment. That office does not keep the Hightower gate record. Use Parole Division for processing and TDCJ for the final history.

Hightower Registry Limits
The Texas DPS Public Sex Offender Registry is an additional source only when a person has a legal registration duty. A matching registry entry can report registry-specific status and details. It is not a full prison release list, and it cannot replace TDCJ history.
The TDCJ sex-offender absconder search is narrower still. Absconder means a person in its defined category is reported missing from required supervision or registration contact. No result does not prove release, discharge, or lack of a warrant. Use these sources only within their stated scope.
A registry record may continue because of a registration duty that is distinct from parole. It may also display a photograph or address for its narrow legal purpose. Do not use that display to invent the Hightower release date, release type, or supervision endpoint. Those facts remain with TDCJ, BPP, and Parole Division.
Hightower Notices Through IVSS
The TDCJ Integrated Victim Services System is the prison notification channel. It can send notices about parole eligibility, Board decisions, discharge dates, release, and bench-warrant moves. Contact IVSS at 800-848-4284 or victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov.
Texas VINELink serves the county custody layer linked by the Liberty County Sheriff. It should not be described as the main Hightower notification system. An IVSS alert is also not a complete release record. Preserve its exact wording, then verify through TDCJ or Parole Division.
Match each notice to the Hightower record and event date. A Board action can precede processing, while a bench-warrant movement may be temporary. Only a release or discharge record supplies the completed state-custody outcome, and the Dayton DPO addresses supervision only after assignment.
Hightower Release and ICE
A Hightower departure may lead to another custodian. ICE says a detainer requests notice and up to 48 additional hours beyond the otherwise applicable release time so it can assume custody. If the destination record supports that possibility, use the ICE locator and request the TDCJ transfer record.
No official evidence reviewed establishes Hightower, another TDCJ unit in Liberty County, or the county jail as a current ICE detention facility. The possibility of a hold must not be turned into a facility label. Exact destination data is stronger than an inference from absence.
Liberty Prison Record Boundaries
Liberty County's strategic plan describes five correctional facilities with a combined confined population above 4,500. Four are TDCJ units. Hightower's male prison role differs from Bell's pre-release function and the female Henley and Plane units. The fifth is the Sheriff-run county jail.
LCSO resumed management of the county jail in October 2020, but that local operator history does not govern Hightower. Use the state custodian for state events.
