Liberty Projected Versus Actual Release

TDCJ uses the field name Projected Release Date for a person currently in its custody. The date reflects the state sentence and an administrative calculation. It may depend on the offense date and type, sentence structure, legal eligibility, credit rules, and the Board of Pardons and Paroles. It does not report that release already occurred.

An actual release record documents a completed event. It can state when custody ended, the authority or release type, and the next destination. A favorable parole decision, eligibility date, court order, or projected date may precede that event. Release planning, a program condition, another hold, or transport can still intervene.

Choose the Liberty County Custodian

Liberty County has two custody layers. The Sheriff operates Liberty County Jail for local bookings. TDCJ operates Oliver J. Bell, Dempsie Henley, L.V. Hightower, and Lucile Plane units within the county. A nearby building does not make a state prisoner part of the county jail system.

A transfer from the county jail to TDCJ ends one booking but continues custody. Search the state record when the facts indicate a state commitment rather than assuming roster absence means return to the community.

Search TDCJ Projected Release Dates

The TDCJ inmate search includes only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. Search with last name and first initial at minimum, observing the exact-last-name warning. A seven-digit TDCJ number or SID is more precise. Optional gender and race can narrow results.

1. Open the official TDCJ current-inmate search.
2. Enter the TDCJ number or SID when known; otherwise use the name fields.
3. Compare identifiers and conviction county before selecting a result.
4. Read the date label exactly as Projected Release Date.
5. Check the current unit, offense information, and other displayed sentence data.
6. Use BPP or Parole Division for review and processing questions when applicable.

The search is useful for testing whether a person left Liberty County Jail through transfer to state custody. It is not a historical list of released or discharged people. A person who has fully left TDCJ may simply stop appearing.

Liberty TDCJ Search Field Limits

The successful manifest capture documents the official search inputs and the current-incarceration limit. It does not show a former prisoner or prove a completed release.

The interface supports name and identifier searching for current TDCJ custody. Any projected date reached from it belongs to the matched current record and must remain labeled as an estimate.

Texas Good Conduct Time

Texas Government Code Section 498.003 allows TDCJ to award good conduct time according to classification. The statute says that this credit affects eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision and does not otherwise reduce the sentence. Credit may be forfeited and, within the governing rules, restored.

That distinction blocks a common but faulty calculation. Subtracting every displayed day of good time from a sentence end does not yield a reliable physical release date. Eligibility creates a point at which a release process may apply. It does not command immediate departure. Board action, mandatory-supervision rules, sentence structure, holds, and processing remain relevant.

Section 498.0045 addresses diligent-participation credit for specified state-jail felony circumstances and contains its own limits. It is not a general Liberty County jail credit rule. No public Liberty County good-time policy or calculator was located, so county credit questions belong with the sentencing court and jail records.

Texas Parole Eligibility Formulas

Government Code Section 508.145 contains multiple parole-eligibility formulas keyed to offense, sentence, and date. For listed serious offenses, subsection (d) generally uses actual calendar time without good-conduct credit equal to one-half of the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, subject to statutory minimums and details. Other subsections apply different rules.

There is no responsible single percentage for every Texas prisoner. Offense date and category matter. Consecutive sentences, detainers, lost or restored credits, Board decisions, and release-plan processing can also affect the operative date. A broad claim that all prisoners must serve the same percentage would misstate Texas law.

Eligibility

The case may be considered under the applicable formula; release is not assured.

Parole

Conditional prison release under Parole Division supervision.

Mandatory supervision

A statutory release framework subject to eligibility and, for many cases, Board review.

Discharge

The sentence ends, distinct from supervised release.

Mandatory Supervision Date Rules

TDCJ distinguishes offenses before and after September 1, 1996. For a qualifying earlier offense, an inmate eligible for mandatory supervision is released on the projected date if parole has not already occurred. For a qualifying later offense, the Board conducts discretionary mandatory-supervision review.

Government Code Section 508.149 identifies exclusions and discretionary review rules. If the person is ineligible or the Board denies mandatory supervision, TDCJ explains that the projected date is the discharge date. Read the actual current record and the law tied to the offense date.

A Board code still does not equal the prison gate event. FI and its variants are favorable parole actions that may include a program, transfer, or future month. RMS approves mandatory supervision. NR sets another review without release, SA means serve all, and DMS denies mandatory supervision. Use the current Board definition and then verify release processing.

Why Liberty Projected Dates Change

A date can move because the facts or legal status behind the calculation change. Some changes affect eligibility; others affect whether an approved release can be completed. TDCJ is the source for the current administrative field, while the court and Board supply different decisions.

Do not treat every change as an error. Ask which source changed, which event the date describes, and whether another custodian is involved.

Email Liberty TDCJ Date Requests

For information by email, TDCJ instructs requesters to send the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number to pia@tdcj.texas.gov. If the number is unknown, provide exact date of birth or approximate age plus county of conviction and place the person's name in the subject.

TDCJ says the no-charge response can include the TDCJ number, location, conviction offense, prior and current incarceration information including county and court, and projected release date. The same official page states that photographs and Social Security numbers are not provided to the public.

The capture supports the documented response fields and photograph restriction. It does not promise that every request will return every field.

Released TDCJ Records Requests

A former state prisoner may disappear from the online current search. Submit a focused request for incarceration history, release or discharge date, release type or status, and related parole or supervision information as applicable. TDCJ accepts requests through its online form, at PIA@tdcj.texas.gov, by mail to TDCJ Public Information Request, P.O. Box 4017, Huntsville, TX 77342, or by hand at 2 Financial Plaza, Suite 600, Huntsville, TX 77340.

Ask for existing records rather than a newly created analysis. The completed history is the right source for a past event. A present no-result cannot supply the date or explain why the record no longer appears.

A focused historical request should identify the person, TDCJ number when known, county of conviction, and the desired incarceration period. Request the existing incarceration history, release or discharge date, release type or status, and related parole or supervision record as applicable. These terms distinguish a completed past event from the projected field shown for a current prisoner.

If the state record reflects a favorable Board action, check release processing separately. FI variants may require a program, transfer, or future month. Parole Division can address processing after a favorable vote, while BPP Public Information is the route for final decisions or panel minutes. Neither source should be paraphrased as a physical departure until TDCJ records that event.

Sentence dates also need labels. The offense date selects the applicable statutory framework, the judgment establishes the sentence, an eligibility date marks possible consideration, and a projected date reflects TDCJ's current calculation. A discharge date ends the sentence. Treating these as interchangeable hides the exact rule or event that changed.

Confirm Liberty Physical Release

For county custody, obtain the LCSO record showing the end of the booking. For TDCJ custody, use Parole Division or the final TDCJ event record. A precise conclusion labels the source: TDCJ displayed a projected date for a current prisoner; the Board recorded a decision; Parole Division processed release; or LCSO recorded a county-jail departure. Those are separate facts.
